Honeymooners find historic structures and natural beauty around every corner in Greece. The country lies at the juncture of Europe, Asia and Africa and is heir to the heritages of ancient Greece, the Roman and Byzantine Empires, and nearly four centuries of Ottoman rule. Greece is the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, the Olympic Games, Western literature and historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, as well as Western drama including both tragedy and comedy. Ancient Greek civilization was the cultural center of the world and evidence is visible at almost every turn. Greece also offers many relaxing and beautiful options for a honeymoon such as Santorini, Mykonos, Crete - islands with spectacular beaches surrounded by deep blue sea. A Greek honeymoon truly has something for everyone.

Drama and democracy were born in Greece but don't let that bore you. It's also home to bright sun, great beaches, striking scenery and charming people. It was good enough for the gods, so it makes a great place to relax and explore.
Greece sits in southeastern Europe and shares its northern borders with Albania, Macedonia, and Bulgaria, and to the east it borders Turkey. Mainland Greece is surrounded by over 1000 islands, of which 160 are inhabited.
Greece is filled with mountainous terrain, which is perfect for trekking. However, there are water sports as well because the lake like surface of the Aegean provides perfect conditions for windsurfing, which is the most popular water sport in Greece. Snorkeling is encouraged and well worthwhile anywhere along the coast. Greece also offers some or the cheapest skiing in Europe with over 20 resorts, check it out as an alternative to the spendy Alps.
Climate and Weather
Greece has mild wet winters and hot dry summers. May, June, September and October are the best times to visit Greece. Conditions are perfect between Easter and mid-June, when the weather is warm, not hot, and the crowds are manageable at beaches and historic sites. Conditions are great again from the end of August through November as the season winds down and most tourist attractions shut down.
