Beautiful scenery in the San Juan Archipelago
Gulf Islands
The San Juan Archipelago is made up of the San Juan Islands in U.S. state of Washington and the Gulf Islands in British Columbia, Canada. The archipelago is located in the northwest corner of the US in the Salish Sea. Over 450 islands make up the archipelago, but fewer than one-sixth are permanently inhabited. Fifteen islands are accessible by public ferry - six San Juan Islands and nine Gulf Islands. Many visitors enjoy experiencing the fact that each island has a character of its own, both in terms of geography and of the lifestyle the inhabitants lead. Honeymooners can enjoy many activities on the islands that focus on enjoying the amazing scenery. Orca whale-watching by boat or air and sea kayaking are two of the primary attractions.
