San Francisco

San Francisco, perched at the edge of the continent, is truly one of the world's great cities. It's the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, a port city with saltwater in her veins, gold fever in her past, and the danger of earthquakes whispering in her ears. The city is small, with 750,000 residents nestled within a seven-by-seven-mile tip of land between San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Like any great city, San Francisco is recognizable by her famous landmarks. Who doesn't instantly identify San Francisco when they see the Golden Gate Bridge, the TransAmerica Pyramid, Lombard Street or Cable Cars!

Geography/Environment
On the Northwestern side of the Bay in Marin County, including Sausalito is an impressive nature preserve, Muir Woods. Farther south is Monterey, Carmel-by-the-Sea and the mountainous coastline known as Big Sur.
Activities
San Francisco has about 160 parks and playgrounds with Golden Gate Park being the cities chief recreational area. Hike through Muir Woods national monument, the most famous redwood forest in the country.

Climate and Weather
From beautiful to perfect, California's weather has attracted more transplants than her gold did during the 1800's. San Francisco enjoys relatively mild weather year-round. This makes San Fransisco an ideal honeymoon destination. Although fog is not unusual, especially in the summer, temperatures seldom rise above 70ºF (2ºC) or fall below 40ºF (5ºC).
