Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are located right next to each other along a stretch of the Pacific coast known as the "Mexican Riviera." Zihuatanejo is an old fishing town, full of cobblestone streets, boutiques and traditional markets. There are plenty of bars and restaurants and on Sunday night there is dancing and folkloric music at the zócalo (main town square). Ixtapa, meaning "white place" in Náhuatl, is a beautiful resort town with amazing beaches, the place to go for luxurious resorts and discos. Both of these honeymoon destinations share impressive vistas with the crashing waves of the Pacific to the west and the Sierra Madre del Sur mountain chain to the east. Some hot tips for this area include great whale-watching during the annual migration in winter months and the more than 30 scuba diving sites in the vicinity. Of course there is a plethora of other activities to enjoy in this area to make your honeymoon memorable.
